Sharing

Mochi makes it easy to share your work with others. You can share decks in two ways:

  1. Export a .mochi file and send it to someone directly.
  2. Publish the deck to the web and share a link.

Each option has different benefits depending on how you want others to access or use your deck.

Exporting a deck

Exporting creates a portable .mochi file containing:

  • All cards
  • Templates
  • Tags and metadata
  • Attachments (images, audio, etc.)
  • Review history (if included)

You can export a single deck or your entire workspace.

Once exported, you can send the file to a friend, store it as a backup, or import it on another device running Mochi.

Because a .mochi file is self-contained and portable, it’s the most future-proof way to share or store your material.

What’s inside a .mochi file?

A .mochi export is simply a ZIP archive with a JSON data file and an attachments folder. If you want to inspect or modify an export:

  1. Rename the file from .mochi.zip.
  2. Extract it using your preferred archive tool.
  3. Edit the JSON or attachments as needed.
  4. Re-zip the folder and rename it back to .mochi.

This advanced workflow is entirely optional but useful for creating or modifying cards outside of Mochi.

Check out the Export format reference for more information on creating your own .mochi file.

Publishing a deck

You can also publish a deck directly to the web. Publishing creates a public, read-only version of your deck that anyone with the link can access.

People viewing a published deck can:

  • Browse it in their browser or in the Mochi app
  • Clone it into their own Mochi workspace
  • Review it or edit their own copy

Cloning creates a separate deck in their account, so their changes will never affect your original.

You can unpublish a deck at any time, which disables the shared link but keeps your deck intact.

Publishing requires a Mochi Pro subscription and relies on Mochi’s servers, so it’s more convenient—but less durable—than exporting.
