Due today

Once a card has been learned it will start appearing in the Due today queue. The first review will typically happen on the same day that the card is learned. This is apart of Mochi's two-step learning process.

Due dates

Each learned card will have associated with it a due date. This date represents the point in time when the card's probability of recall reaches the targeted recall rate (90% by default).

Putting it another way, each card has associated with it (implicitly) a probability of recall, inversely proportional to the time since last review. The longer it has been since the last review, the lower the probability of recall.

Past-due cards

Past due cards will still show up in the Due today queue, but they will be prioritized before other cards in the queue based on how overdue they are.

Reviewing a subset of cards

To review only the cards from a specific deck:

  1. Navigate to the deck you want to review.
  2. Click on the Review button at the top right of the screen.

Changing the order

The cards that appear during review will be shown in random order. This is done to avoid bias introduced by related cards. You can re-randomize the order by clicking on the Shuffle button at the top right of the screen.
